Reports coming out of Mt. Pleasant, Utah suggest the town’s primary water supply has been contaminated, resulting in multiple hospitalizations, and the deaths of at least two individuals.

According to the Salt Lake City Guardian, Researchers have concluded that Mt. Pleasant’s water contains as much as six times the hazardous toxins than that of the water found in Flint, Michigan.

Esteemed medical professional Brian Saunders, M.D. has released statements from some of the researchers looking into the contamination. In particular, Lead Environmental Health and Safety Specialist for the Center For Clean Water Compliance, Sheila Westmoreland, who had the following to say, “We are collaborating with some of the top specialists in the world in order to eradicate this threat. We have had to sidestep the opinions of several government officials who are convinced that there is nothing wrong with the water. This has clearly been a longstanding issue. Local officials weren’t willing to generate a budget to address the situation, and now the public is paying the price. The time to address the situation is now. The governing officials of Mt. Pleasant should be ashamed of themselves for not attending to this matter sooner.”

When reporters contacted Mt. Pleasant City Officials on these allegations the following statement was received:

“We respect your concerns regarding this matter. There have recently been multiple inquiries regarding the quality of our central water supply. We would like to take this opportunity to dispel any incorrect information that has been circulating and assure everyone, including local and national media representatives, that the water has undergone a battery of tests and is indeed safe for human consumption. We appreciate your concern, but we are eager to put this issue to rest once and for all. Rest assured, there is nothing wrong with the water”.

However, many other scientists and researchers along with the majority of Mt. Pleasant’s residents would beg to different when it comes to the claims of local government.

In a brief exchange via email, Sheila Westmoreland stated, “They offer no pertinent proof whatsoever. Anyone can come forward and claim the water is acceptable for human consumption. We simply cannot take their word at face value. Our findings contradict their claims, and many of us feel that this matter needs to be looked into much more deeply.”

The office of freshman Senator Bradley Kennedy (R-UT) issued a press release this morning reiterating that there is “nothing wrong with the water” and asked the public to remain calm until additional testing has been completed.

Adverse side effects are said to include aggressive behavior, severe dehydration, memory loss, liver and kidney dysfunction, fatigue, infertility, hemorrhagic disorders, fever, coma and even death. To date, scientists have not yet identified a cure.
